For over 20 years I've been on the path of psychotherapy treatment. My journey has been purposeful, vibrant and fulfilling. Early in my career, having the opportunity to fulfill roles of a social worker at one of Louisiana's largest juvenile prisons and a high school teacher in the New Orleans Public School System, helped lay a foundation of truth and outlined the importance of "getting to the root of the problem". Using both traditional and creative therapeutic techniques, I've learned to help others process pain and push to be all they've ever desired to be through education, encouragement and empowerment.

Life is all about actions and reactions. Often we do not realize how our actions, or lack thereof, effect our situational outcomes. My name is Michelle Roberson, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, who aims to walk this path with you and explore your many possibilities. Sometimes we search to define who we are and where we fit on this journey called life. There are many roads to take and for the last five years, I've enjoyed working with a variety of individuals and families, focused on identifying the right road, learning healthy techniques and practical ways to cope with life challenges. My practice focus areas include substance abuse, phase-of-life issues, depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, addiction, mindfulness, and self-improvement opportunities.

I specialize in solution focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing. As a therapist, I believe that talking heals. When we are able to talk about what is going on in our lives, it ignites the process of change. Though it's not always easy to locate the road to self discovery, I welcome the opportunity to travel your journey with you, let’s start together.

As a United States Army Veteran, I consider it an honor to help others through some of life’s toughest pitfalls. My journey has afforded me the opportunity to work in various jobs where I’ve served others, including military personnel, chronically homeless individuals, and those with emergency needs. With excitement to serve, my journey as a therapist started in 2010. Since, I’ve gained extensive experience working with adolescents and adults experiencing behavioral health emergencies. I enjoy working with a diverse client population, helping to improve their quality of life, regardless of the challenges they face. In practice, I use mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing techniques. I specialize in working with individuals, adults and families who are challenged with managing complex medical conditions, chronic mental illness, substance abuse, trauma, and domestic violence.

I strongly believe when engaging clients in therapy, the therapist must become a “fellow traveler” walking beside the client, on their journey to healing and wholeness. I look forward to the chance to help you manage life’s ups and downs. Always remember, you don’t have to do it alone.
